On August 20th GLA directors met with Golden Age Village(GAV) board members. We discussed many issues during a productive and eye-opening two hour meeting. GAV asked that the GLA address three main issues:
1. Road maintenance (Sirius Road)
2. Level of annual assessments and
3. Lack of voting rights.
GLA President Doug Gill later stated to GAV VP Chris Kelley "Many thanks to you and your board for hosting us last night. I found the meeting very informative. It was a pleasure to meet you, Janet, Sam, and Mitchell in person and put some faces with the names." He added "In the spirit of cooperation and progress, we look forward to an open dialogue and exchange of information and ideas."
More meetings are anticipated to address and find solutions for GAV issues.

The GLA Nomination process ended on August 31st. The Official GLA Election Ballot Packets, including detailed instructions, were mailed on Monday, September 22nd from Emigrant, MT. Your ballot is your voice and we want to hear from you.
Four candidates are officially running for Directors' positions.
In North Glastonbury, three incumbents are running. Doug Gill is the current GLA President, Claudette Dirkers, the current GLA Treasurer, and Ryan Kinports serves on the Project Review Committee. All wish to return to the Board of Directors to serve for two more years.
In South Glastonbury, incumbent Tim Brockett, the current GLA Vice President and Webmaster, is seeking a two-year term for director. Christine Farrar, a landowner in High South Glastonbury, is also running for a two-year term.
You can also vote on proposed GLA Bylaws' edits that seek to treat all landowners equally by prohibiting more than one elected office per Membership Interest.
The winners will join a dynamic 2026 Board of Directors that is committed to building on its 2025 successes. Directors who are midway in their terms are: Steve Anderson, Joe Bezotsky, Debbie Newby and Tyson Wright. Our number one priority is road safety. The GLA Board and Road Committee will continue to improve road conditions through careful monitoring, judicious spending, and well-written contracts.
In 2026, we anticipate creating three informative, community-oriented newsletters, while further improving our new website and email communications. Our treasurer aims to set new records for both assessment and past-due collections. The Project Review Committee will pursue measures to further streamline and simplify the construction approval process.
Your paper, emailed or hand-delivered ballot(s) must be received by no later than 5 PM (MST) on Monday, November 3rd. Instructions are included and please note that each page is double-sided. Your ballot packet is on the way to you by US Post First Class Mail.
Thank you for voting,
The 2025 GLA Board of Directors

In 2024 a director asked her sister, who co-owned a parcel with her, to apply for a vacant seat on the board. Her sister considered and later declined the offer. Later in 2024, the same director asked her sister to run for the board in the annual election. She accepted, her name was placed on the ballot, and she won a seat. The first meeting of the new board had both sisters serving as directors.
Many landowners felt that a membership interest, a parcel or tenants-in-common, should only be allowed to have one co-owner run for the board or ombudsman. We already allowed husbands and wives to serve on the board if they represented different membership interests. The issue in 2024 was whether a single parcel, co-owned by two sisters, would allow both to serve on the GLA Board.
In 2024 a mother and daughter who co-owned a single parcel ran for a director's position and for ombudsman. Many landowners thought this was a problem, too.
The GovDocs committee analyzed the issues and sought a solution by adding language to our Bylaws that prohibited both. The law firm of Crowley Fleck, studied our Bylaws and suggested language changes. They also updated the formatting, and dates. You may study their work by clicking on the link below. Crowley Fleck changes are in blue.
The Crowley Fleck suggested changes will be on the ballot for the 2025 Annual Election.

Dry Creek Road is 'paved'
Park County recently replaced a broken, leaking culvert on the dirt portion of Dry Creek Road S that leads to Hercules Road in South Glastonbury. They reduced the steepn grade considerably. Then they added two to three inches of asphalt road tailings on top of the dirt and rock graded roadbed. Park County rolled and compacted the tailings; the ground remains of old asphalt pavement. The road feels and looks like a normal asphalt road. It is smooth, affords excellent traction and no dust is raised. Because the asphalt tailings are just lightly connected water and melting snow will be able to drain through the road surface. Ice formation may not be a problem.
In 2017 a road engineer hired by the GLA suggested that asphalt tailings be experimented with on various Glastonbury roads. They hold up well and are only slightly more costly than gravel and clay Road Mix. In 2025 we will get to experiment with a heavily traveled county road rebuilt with asphalt tailings at no cost to the GLA. The 2026 Road Committee will analyze results next spring and may recommend asphalt tailings for heavily traveled Glastonbury roads.
